The omega-9 fatty acids are generally referred to as oil acids. They are produced by the body but can also be taken in through food. These omega fatty acids have different positive effects. They reduce LDL and total cholesterol levels, reduce the incorporation of saturated fatty acids in the cell membrane, protect the gastrointestinal tract and to have a preventive effect against breast cancer.
