Super D3

Vitamin D is obtained from the vitamin D2 from fungi and plants, also the vitamin D3 attained from animal sources, and their metaboltics and derivatives. Among food, only high-fat fish have significant levels of vitamin D.

• Super D3 is extracted from the lanolin of the sheep's wool.
• Vitamin D3 is mainly formed under the influence of light in the skin. In the body, it acts as a Prohormone, which required two conversion steps before it reaches hormone status.
• Vitamin D3 is known primarily for his influence on calcium homeostasis and the phosphorus budget. It regulates the calcium metabolism and calcium absorption from the intestine, while at the same time reduces the excretion through the kidneys.

In addition, vitamin D3 has several other important tasks. These include supporting the endocrine system, the immune system and the respiratory, the cardiovascular and gastro intestinal tract.

If not enough UVB radiation reaches your skin, it can lead to a vitamin D3 deficiency. Therefore, factors such as season, altitude, skin pigmentation, air pollution or the use of creams with UVB light protection factor will play a role.

Notes:

Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia and in people who are taking cardiac glycosides.
