Fresh ingredients needed (classic):

  • 2 eggs
  • 165 ml milk
  • 40 g butter

Fesh ingredients needed (vegan):

  • 150 ml of oat milk
  • 40 g of plant-based milk

Tips :

  • The longer the dough rests, the better it will rise. It should rise to twice its height.
  • Wrapped in cling film or packed in a lunch box or a freezer bag, the loaf stays fresh for a few days.


  1. Open the package and pour the baking mix into a large bowl.
  2. Classic version: Gently heat 150 ml of milk (see the milk line in the can) and 40 g butter in a saucepan until the butter dissolves. Cool until lukewarm and stir in an egg.
  3. Vegan version: Gently heat 150 ml oat drink (see the milk line in the can) and 40 g vegetable fat in a saucepan until the fat dissolves. Cool until lukewarm.
  4. Add the lukewarm milk mixture to the baking mixture and knead for approx. 4 minutes by hand, with a food processor or mixer.
  5. Cover and let the dough rest in a bowl in a warm place (approx. 24 ° C) for 30 - 60 minutes.
  6. Knead the dough and shape it into your desired shape - ie roll into balls for rolls or plait into a plaited loaf.
  7. Place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
  8. Classic version: After shaping your dough, brush it with an egg wash (1 tablespoon of milk and 1 yolk) and cover with cling film.
  9. Vegan variant: Cover with cling film.
  10. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 20 - 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven (top-bottom heat 180 ° C).
  12. Classic version: brush with the egg wash again
  13. Vegan version: brush with water
  14. Bake the Striezel at 180 ° C for about 20 minutes.
  15. Remove from the baking sheet and let cool down for 10 minutes.
