Pleurotus ostreatus (Oyster Mushroom)
The Oyster Mushroom has been cultivated for years worldwide. Its high content of nutrients such as proteins, fiber, minerals and vitamins ensure that it remains an improtant part of a balanced diet. It is used in mycotheraphy due to its high vitamin B content, amoung other things. The pleura, a ß glucan, and lovastatin contained in the oyster mushroom are recurrently a topic in relation to cholesterol.
