Chia seeds

Chia seeds were very popular with the Mayans. Translated, "Chia" means 'thickness'. The Mayan couriers took a bag of chia with them on long journies to be supplied with nutrients over long periods. Chia seeds give the body stamina, particularly on days with a busy schedule.

Chia seeds have a naturally high content of fiber, calcium, phosphorus, zinc and manganese and are a natural source of protein and copper and contain omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.

Application basic recipe chia gel:

Add 1/3 cup chia seeds to 2 cups of water and let sit for 10 minutes. Stir regularly, so there are no lumps.
The Chia gel can be enjoyed pure (with seeds). It can also be used as a sauce binder. Or it can be added to everyday cereals, yogurts, smoothies or puddings.

Chia seeds can also be used for baking bread.
