Acai Berries: Slimming and Wrinkle Reducing!

Acai (pronounced Asa-i) are small, round, dark blue-purple berries from South America with super powers. When the US talk show host Oprah Winfrey described the palm fruits as slimming and wrinkle fighting on her talk show, she started  a huge trend in the US that has also fascinated Europe for several years. Acai berries are considered super fruit!

90 percent of the acai berry consists of a seed, only the skin is edible. After harvesting the fruits of widespread Acai (Euterpe oleracea), the fruits are pitted, mashed and then sold as a food which is consumed as a beverage or even as ice cream. They taste a bit like chocolate and can be used for both sweet and savory dishes.

The berry owes its healthy reputation to its extremely high concentration of antioxidant ingredients - hence the reputation that it is a veritable panacea when it comes to anti-aging. Antioxidants are plant compounds that can help eliminate free radicals in the body. These free radicals are dangerous and responsible for a more rapid deterioration of the cells. In addition, acai berries are a good source of valuable fatty acids and have a good amount of fiber, vegetable protein, potassium, iron and calcium.

We do not use fresh acai berries because they spoil within a few hours. However, they do come in a powder that you can mix into a drink or smoothie. They can also be found in the form of capsules or a thick juice .

The fact that the berries are valuable due to their healthy ingredients is indisputable. Some believe that the vitality of the Brazilian people is mainly due to their high consumption of this miracle berry from the Amazon region. In addition, eating or drinking more healthy ingredients can boost your metabolism so that fat can be burned more efficiently, a fact that has made the acai berry a  "Hollywood berry" for its reputation as a fat burner. The high content of protein in the berry also prevents muscle loss while dieting.
